God is LOVE

Deepavali, also known as Festival of Light, is a festival that is widely celebrates by the Indian. Two days before Deepavali, I went to Jalan Lahat which is situated in old town, Ipoh; together with my friends. In my opinion, Jalan Lahat is like Little India in Ipoh. Every year before Deepavali, there are many stalls set up along the street of Jalan Lahat. And there will be a stage performance too. Colorful lighting and loud music are everywhere at Jalan Lahat.

My friend and I were having our dinner at one of the Indian shop which is situated near Jalan Lahat. Nasi Biryani, Murtabak and Cheese Naan are the 'must try' Indian foods. And we had these yummy Indian foods that night. We were so excited to get out to the street to tap into the Deepavali spirit. Unfortunately, half-way of our dinner, it started to rain! But the rain did not hinder all the activities on that night; street performance still went on and the people were enjoying it. Some still went on with their shopping and the stalls never stop doing their business. How about us? Well, we too were not hindered by the rain.

Sadly, I had to put my camera to rest on that night because of the rain. But it did not stop me from taking photograph that night. I took some photos with the camera that is embedded in my cell phone. After watching a few performance that night, we went around to get something. Well, I bought three boxes of 'Candy' -one of the famous Indian's tidbits. I love Candy very much! Candy is make of coconut and it is sweet.

On that night, I was reminded about the 'LIGHT' that God sent into this world on two thousand years ago. Many people on the street that night still very much does not know about the true 'LIGHT' that God sent to us. Who is this 'LIGHT' that I am talking about? Nobody than Jesus! Jesus indeed is the light of the world. He shines through the darkness in my life since the day I accepted Him as my personal Savior. Knowing Jesus is my Savior, my friend, my father and my God everyday, it is just like celebrating Festival of Light everyday because He is the light in my life; yesterday, today and the days to come!

"I am the light of the world. Whoever follows Me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life -John 8:12"

What do you think about the difficulties in your life? I call these difficulties as GIANT. I need face lots of giants in my working place. I am still very new in my job as a Radiographer; so I am still very much inexperience compare to all my senior colleagues. I always afraid and get terrified every time I receive a difficult case like uncooperative patient like pediatric patient -babies-, trauma patient with really bad condition and some other cases which I seldom encounter. These are the giants in my working place. I want to scream out loud every time I see these giants -AHHHHHHHHHHH- Oops... Just joking! =P

Talking about giant(s), it reminds me about this story in the Bible; David and the Goliath!

David defeated the Goliath with one stone. That's so amazing! How can he did it? Simply because of his great faith in the Lord. He trust in the Lord! Secondly, he learned from his experience in fighting with lion or bear that came to attack his flock of sheep.

Sometimes, God allow difficulties to take place in our life so that we will learn to have faith and trust in Him. And secondly, we will grow stronger and gain the experience in handling the difficulties that we are facing. In my opinion, with these experiences that we gained, we can use it to help others!

So, I want I learned form this story -David and Goliath- is to have faith in the Lord during the difficulties that I am facing and learn to trust in Him! Every time before I start working, I will pray to the Lord to watch over me and help me to faith in Him whenever there are difficulties. Through this, I constantly reminded myself that do not worry whenever I face difficulties in my work because God is with me and when God is with me, I can stone down every giants in my working place! AMEN!

Facing any giants at the moment? What are you waiting for? Stone them down because God is with you in every battle that you are facing!

In my opinion, going extra miles mean taking risk in doing something extra; it can be for anybody or someone who you loved dearly. In addition, going extra miles is a sacrificial act and most of the people are doing it for few reasons like doing it for love, for responsibility and also because of one's professionalism, determination or passion in whatever they are doing.

Like in the movie 'Patch Adam'; his girlfriend -Patch Adam's girlfriend- was killed by a mentally illness man. She told Patch Adam that this man was a little bit not well but Patch Adam told her that they need to help those who are in need. So, one night, this man called up for help but Patch Adam was not around and ended up his girlfriend went over to see what she can do to help that man. But sadly, she was killed by him. She went extra miles, thought of helping that man but ended up being killed. She sacrificed herself for the purpose of helping people.

There are lots of unspoken heroes in the world who go extra miles for others. I am truly proud of them. Going extra miles is not a simple act; it requires lots of courage and sacrifice.

There is a sonographer in one of the hospital in Ipoh who had save a patient's life because she had taken the effort to go extra miles. One day, she was scanning this patient who diagnosed with pancreatic tumor. Pancreatic tumor has no sign and symptoms until it turn into stage four and it will be too late to cure by then. This patient didn't know that she had pancreatic tumor; she just came to the hospital to do some routine medical check-up. The sonographer patiently scanning the patient; she swapped around the patient's body with the probe and carefully searching for any abnormality. Because of her professionalism in her job and her determination, she found some growth somewhere in between the patient's pancreas and spleen. Then, the radiologist reported the ultrasound and requested for CT scan for further evaluation of that growth. And through the CT scan, the radiologist confirmed that there was a tumor on the patient's pancreas. The radiologist said that the patient was really lucky that the pancreatic tumor was diagnosed earlier. Yup, this patient indeed is really blessed because God had sent someone who are willing to take the trouble to go extra miles for her and save her life.

Jesus, He is the Son of God, King of kings and Lord of lords; also went extra miles for all of us. He carried the cross for us, He was mocked, He was rejected and He was crucified for us. God sent Jesus to die for us on the cross for one simple reason; because He loves us very much! What make God take the extra miles to send His one and only son to die for us on the cross? What make Jesus to take extra miles by being rejected, being mocked and die for us on the cross? All these are done because of His Awesome Love for us! This love is known as AGAPE! Hallelujah! I can never, never pay back what Jesus had done for me by loving me unconditionally and die for my sins on the cross. "Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends - John 15:13"

I went back to Taiping last Saturday to celebrate my grandmother's birthday. Suddenly I found this very old photo album... Surprisingly, I found my photos in that album. According to the date that printed on the photos, I was 3 years old then. In my opinion, these photos are so precious, so I took out my hand phone and took the photos; turning the analog into digital. Here are the photos:-

These photos were taken in the late 80's. I was born in the middle of 80's -1986- So, I did not remember anything about 80's. Well, so much of my childhood time was in the 90's and teenage time was in the new millennium.

I always wonder how was it like to be in the 60's, 70's and 80's... Hmm... Do you know, I have this thought that the people, the environment and everything in the 60's, 70's and 80's were in the faded colour, yellowish or brownish like those colour that we see in the old photos while the people, the environment and everything today are very rich in colour -like the current photos that we have today- Haha! Actually, I am so wrong! The colour of the old pictures make me think this way... What a silly boy like me...

If I have a time machine, I want to travel back to the 60's, 70's and 80's... I really love the oldies music so so much especially all the love songs. In my opinion, those songs were very well composed and written. How could you resist such a song with nice melody and beautiful lyric? The Carpenter, The Bee Gees, ABBA, Lobo, Rod Stewart, Air Supply, etc; their songs are evergreen, with meaningful lyrics and nice to our ears when we're listening to it.

Talking about the fashion and style then; well, I am not really into it but I think it was cool. Bell bottom pants -HAHA!- my dad and my mum were wearing it when they were young with high waist line plus a tight tee or shirt. Polka Dots top or skirt -HEHE!- and wedges; I think it was girls' favourite outfit on those days, yeah?

Do you realized that people are bringing back or reintroduce the 60's, 70's and 80's into the current music and fashion? Some singers are doing cover version of some oldies songs... In addition, I can see some youngster nowadays wearing bell bottom pants -maybe not really that flare like those days- and some ladies are wearing wedges today. You might not realized it, maybe you are having something that in your house are from the 60's, 70's and 80's...

As I can see, lots of changes had taken place since then. Today, things are so different! The music that we are listening everyday and the clothes that we are wearing everyday are so different compare to the past. Human attitude is changing too; it is either changing to be more worse or changing to be better... Well, one thing which I am very sure of that God is everlasting and He will never change; He is still the same yesterday, today and tomorrow. Whether it was in the 60's, 70's, 80's, 90's or today or tomorrow, God is still the same faithful God and the same loving God! Amen!

Beside than general X-ray, I also learn to operate CT scan. I always amazed by what CT scan can do. I still remember last time as a radiography student, I used to ask my lecturer how this CT scan work and can scan slice per slice. Sometimes, with CT scan, I can see some abnormal things like cyst, mass or tumor.

Last Friday, I was reading the final few chapters of this autobiography, End of the Spear and one of the chapter, Steve Saint -the author- wrote about his only daughter past away because of the bleeding at the brain. He did mentioned about CT scan. I can relate to it so well and I can imagine about it. Don't why after I read that chapter, my heart was aching so badly and feel very sad about Steve Saint's daughter. One thing that I learned from this is that life can come with lots of unexpected things.

Yesterday, it was so busy at the CT scan room. This last patient that my colleague and I scanned, both of us found something strange at the patient brain. This patient is just 24years old. Later on, the radiologist asked us to repeat the scan with contrast media. What we found out that actually this patient diagnosed with brain tumor. It reminded me about Steve Saint's daughter. I felt really bad and I silently prayed for this patient. He is so young but he diagnosed with brain tumor.

Through this incidence, it prompted me to write this note -below- on my Facebook:-
"Life is too short; learn to say 'I love you' to you loved ones and 'Sorry' if you hurt somebody. Don't take things for granted, learn to appreciate people especially your family and friends before some unwanted event is taking place. Most of the regretful moments can be avoided. Simple things like making time for your loved ones, telling them how much you love them and say sorry if you have hurt them; with these simple acts, we can avoid most of the unwanted -yet regret- moments!"

Praise the Lord! I experienced a great awakening during my recent Cell Group retreat at Cameron Highlands. We were staying at this beautiful bungalow with the design like an English bungalow. Actually this was my second time staying here... Where is this place that I am mentioning?!

Tah... Tah... It is Overseas Missionary Fellowship (OMF) Bungalow! This place is really beautiful; a bungalow with a big garden outside. In addition, there is a mini playground which is my favorite spot.

We reached Cameron Highlands quite late in the afternoon. We had our lunch at this restaurant situated at the water cress plantation. One thing that is so special here at this restaurant is their water cress herbal tea drink. After lunch, we headed to OMF bungalow. Once we reached there, everyone was so excited about this beautiful place. After we settled down, we had a short briefing section. David gave us an article -with four chapters- for devotion. Thank you David and Katherine for making this retreat a time for us to read. I personally call this retreat 'The Reading Retreat'. Haha... Just my own opinion only! We also brought along a Christian book to read. I brought my favorite autobiography book written by Steve Saint, 'End of the Spear' which I was half-way reading it. Few highlights for the first day were firstly the devotion, 'Rack 'em Up' teaching us to recharge and renew our passion for God. Secondly was the starry, starry night. All of us were standing outside -it was very cold outside- enjoying the beautiful sky that God had painted that night. I was so amazed and nearly wanted to cry because of this awesome and beautiful sky. It reminded me how awesome is my heavenly Daddy! I took some picture of the starry, starry sky. Thanks to Dennis for teaching me the right technique to capture the starry, starry sky.

Second day - I woke up early; as early as 6.30am while everyone still sleeping except for Mrs. Chye -the OMF bungalow caretaker- and her maid. They were cleaning up the bungalow and preparing for our breakfast. After I bathed, I saw a beautiful sunrise! Wow, that was so awesome! Alright, preparing for breakfast at 8am. Lisa, Wai Yi and I wwere the first few started eating breakfast. We were so excited about awesome and delicious strawberry jam that made by Mrs. Chye -we bought one for ourselves too- After morning worship, we went out for a short outing. Then, after lunch at OMF, we started playing games. I had so much fun especially the treasure hunt using photography and the snatching balloon. I laughed and ran around at the same time, in the end, I felt really exhausted and my stomach was so pain. HAHAHA!

Then in the evening, it was raining outside. Before dinner, everyone of were resting and reading. I really enjoyed this moment of quietness. During this retreat, I didn't wear my watch, so most of the time, I don't know about the time. But in my opinion, I liked it very much. Sometimes, we always rushing for time until we forget to slow down in our life. And this retreat was really time for me to slow down and relax. During dinner, the rain stopped and outside became so misty and the air was so cold. We were enjoying our steamboat dinner. I strongly agreed that was the right time to eat steamboat. Love it!

After the dinner, we had a session of free worship. WOW - Worth of Worship! The presence of the Lord was so overwhelming and so powerful. Some of us were broke into tears and Fui Fui and I couldn't stop weeping. I kneel down and bow to the Lord; I was confessing my sins in my life and asking Him to forgive me. I also asked the Lord to renew my desire and passion for Him. Then, I suggested to worship the Lord with the song 'Still'. Few days before the retreat, this song 'Still' was in my thought. And on the first day, the word 'Still' became more and more significant and align well with the retreat. After singing the song, I was led into a prayer. I was shouting in my prayer. I believed that I was led by the Holy Spirit. The presence of the Lord was so strong. After the prayer, immediately I fell on my knee and continued weeping again. Last time, I don't understand why some people can cry so loudly at church during alter call but now I see it well because I experienced it.

A few things that we received from the Lord during the free worship; firstly, REJOICE in the Lord. Secondly, it is the TIME OF REFRESHING. Thirdly, about the GARDEN, just enjoy the presence of the Lord in the garden. Fourthly, if want to taste the Lord, we must make the FIRST MOVE like unwrapping the Ferrero Rocher chocolate. and lastly, learn to be STILL before the Lord. Praise the Lord! Most of us encountering the Lord and renew our desire and passion for the Lord!

I had blessed time of fellowship with my cell brothers and sisters too. Praise the Lord! The retreat was so awesome! Thank God for the awesomeness moment encountering with Him and spent some quality times in building up a great fellowship with the Cell Group.

I used to take bus to work. Every morning, I walk to the bus stop to wait for the public bus. Waiting for the bus can be really boring and tiring. But I am happy and blessed to have those waiting moments. During those waiting moments, God showed me some awesome and beautiful things that constantly reminded me about Him. He showed me many flock of birds -one after another- flying across the road from tree to tree. This 'picture' is so awesome and beautiful. This 'picture' reminded me about this verse from the bible:-
"Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much valuable than they? -Matthew 6:26-27, NIV"
I am reminded that God will provide and He loves me! Therefore, do not worry!

And then, God also showed me beautiful sunrise -almost every morning- I always get excited when I see beautiful sunrise or sunset that God painted on the sky. I captured two of it and here are the beautiful sunrise:-

Recently, my cell members are so active in playing futsal. They invited their friends to come and play together. I joined them once and I had so much fun. But I guess I am really not good in futsal. During the game, I was almost going to faint and my brother was so worried about me.

Well, I am really proud of my cell members! This is a good opportunity to reach out to their oikos. Do you know that playing sports also can reach out to people and share with them about Jesus. I had come across that there are missionaries using sports to reach out to people -especially to the youth- and share with them about Jesus! That is so cool! Praise the Lord! =)
